Jose Mourinho took aim at Roma owner Dan Friedkin, saying he was fired from his role with the Giallorossi by ‘someone who knows little about football.’ The Special One wrote an article for football.com and talked about his sacking from Roma, offered advice for coach’s in the game and also shed a little light on his potential future:
‘The European competitions are about to begin, especially the Champions League, perhaps the most important competition on the world calendar. I will not be at these finals, not because I have already been eliminated, but because I have been ‘eliminated’ by someone who knows little about football. Such is life, full of ups and downs, and I am growing, despite the dismissal that was as unexpected as it was unfair. But I’ll be back, and with even more enthusiasm and confidence, for these UEFA matches.”
“I have participated in many matches and I have been in the finals several times. They really are special matches, for us coaches, for the fans and, of course, for the players. So I have enough experience and knowledge to know how to move forward, even when we have opponents with much greater potential than us. At this stage I always keep in mind: in the first game you always play to win; in the second, you know what you need to do to move on to the next round: win by one goal, draw or even lose by one or two goals. And knockout games are run on this basis.”
