Il Corriere dello Sport report that Fiorentina and Napoli are considering not participating in the Supercoppa Italiana at the start of next year. The competition is due to be held in Saudi Arabia but has already been pushed back from January 4- 8 to January 21 – 25.
The competition traditionally involves two clubs but has been expanded to include four Serie A sides.
Il Corriere now report that both Napoli and Fiorentina are considering withdrawing, with reports suggesting that neither side was overly enthusiastic about playing in Saudi Arabia.
It follows news that Napoli failed to play the Lega Serie A anthem ahead of their match against La Viola this weekend, reportedly at the insistence of Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
