Napoli go into permanent training retreat

Start

Aurelio De LaurentiisNapoli have officially announced that the entire squad will go into a ‘permanent’ training retreat for the rest of the season. It follows their 3-2 at the hands of Empoli, a game in which they were leading until the 80th minute.

Dreadful mistakes from the defence and goalkeeper Alex Meret cost them a valuable 3 points and has effectively ended their title hopes for the season, as they’ve only collected one point from the last 3 matches.

The club have now announced a ‘permanent’ training retreat until the end of the season via their official website and Twitter account:

“The club has decided that from Tuesday, when the training sessions resume, the squad will go into a permanent retreat.”

A report from Corriere dello Sport today has also cast doubts over the future of coach Luciano Spalletti, suggesting club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is now looking to Vincenzo Italiano and Roberto De Zerbi as possible replacement in the summer.
