Napoli v Eintracht could set record, key players expected back

Napoli are hoping to recover a number of key players ahead of their Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday. The Partenopei hold a healthy lead from the away leg in Germany, having beaten Frankfurt 2-0 with goals from Victor Osimhen and Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the return leg in Naples could achieve a historic goal with more than 50,000 expected at the Diego Maradona stadium. The total gate receipts from the match could get close to €4m and may even break the previous record set in 2017 against Real Madrid, when the club earned €4,484,302.

There’s also positive news for Luciano Spalletti ahead of the match, as both Alex Meret and Kim Min Jae are recovering and could be fit enough to make the match day squad. Both players carried out part of yesterdays team training session and there’s a suggestion that they will at least make the matchday squad.

Alongside, Mexican winger Hirving Lozano has also fully recovered for the game and will be fit enough to be named in the squad. He’s expected to be in contention for a starting spot on the right flank along with Matteo Politano. There’s also encouraging news on Giacomo Raspadori who could be called up, but the suggestion is that Spalletti will have to wait for the OK from the medical staff before considering his inclusion in the squad.
