Nemanja Matić to join Roma

Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matić is set to join Roma on a free transfer, reuniting with coach Jose Mourinho for a third time. The 33-year-old is out of contract with Manchester United this summer and has reportedly already decided on his next move.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Matic is set to join Roma when his contract United ends, making it his sixth season working with Mourinho.

Speaking in May, the Portuguese tactician was full of praise for Matic, saying: “Nemanja is a fantastic player. Everyone knows my relationship with him, he is one of the guys who has my trust.”

According to Di Marzio, Matic had ‘more economically important offers’ but he chose specifically to work with the ‘Special One’ again after Mourinho specifically requested to bring him to Rome.
