AC Milan to Reject Permanent Kyle Walker Transfer as Manchester City Loan Falls Flat

Start

Will AC Milan Sign Kyle Walker Permanently?

Despite Manchester City setting an asking price of just €5 million, AC Milan are not expected to sign Kyle Walker permanently after his short loan spell in Serie A.

The 34-year-old full-back joined Milan in January 2025 but has struggled to make a consistent impact.

Why AC Milan Won’t Buy Kyle Walker From Man City

Initially viewed as a low-risk bargain deal, Walker’s move to Milan was seen as a way to add experience and leadership to a developing squad. However, injury issues, including an elbow setback shortly after his arrival, limited his contributions on the pitch.

Meanwhile, rising star Alex Jimenez seized his opportunity in Walker’s absence. The 18-year-old Spanish defender impressed coaches and fans alike and is now being considered the long-term solution at right-back.

While City’s original asking price was €5 million, reports suggest Milan even pushed for a reduced fee of €3.5 million.

Despite that, the club has reportedly decided against activating the buy clause due to Walker’s high salary demands — estimated at around €4 million per season over four years.

Will Kyle Walker Return to Manchester City?

With Milan stepping back from a permanent transfer, Walker is now expected to return to Manchester City at the end of the 2024–25 season.

City, meanwhile, are actively searching for younger reinforcements at right-back, indicating Walker’s time at the Etihad may also be winding down.

While Milan appear ready to part ways with Walker, questions remain over other key names in the squad. Reportedly, Theo Hernandez is one of three ‘welcome gifts’ lined up for Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid arrival in the summer.

If Milan fail to agree to a new deal with Hernandez, they may be forced to sell rather than risk losing him for free in 2026.

Will Kyle Walker Play in the Coppa Italia Final?

Walker still has the chance to leave Milan on a high note. The Coppa Italia final against Bologna could be his last appearance in a Rossoneri shirt.

Whether he starts may depend on his fitness and the tactical plans of manager Sergio Conceição, who has reportedly leaned toward youth in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Milan has been handed a triple boost with three starters expected to return for the Coppa Italia Final.

Rafael Leão, Fikayo Tomori, and Youssouf Fofana are all expected to feature in Wednesday’s final against Bologna, meaning manager Sergio Conceição will have almost his full squad available as he tries to end the season on a high.

How Many Games Did Kyle Walker Play for Milan?

Since his January arrival, Walker has made 11 Serie A appearances for AC Milan. While brief, his time helped plug key gaps during an injury-hit phase of the season. However, his contribution was not enough to secure a permanent stay.
