Christian Pulisic has been very vocal over a return to the United States in the future, but which MLS sides could sign the AC Milan star?
Has Christian Pulisic Played In MLS?
The AC Milan star is widely-regarded as the best player in USMNT history, as Pulisic continues to find huge success in Europe and is currently enjoying his best spell in Serie A.
Despite this reputation in North America, the 27-year-old has never played in his home nations’ elite division, Major League Soccer, and is yet to play outside of Europe.
His absence from MLS occurred as Pulisic move to Germany at just 15-years-old and worked his way to Borussia Dortmund’s first team – before joining Chelsea for €64 million in January 2019.
Although Pulisic made 145 appearances for the Blues and even won the Champions League, the USMNT player failed to impress in the Premier League and joined AC Milan for €20m in July 2023.
Captain America has been a revelation in Italy, playing some of his best soccer in the red and black of Milan, as Pulisic has contributed to 63 goals in 108 appearances (38G + 25A).
However, Pulisic’s time with Milan has hit a setback following injury and contract issues, which could push the USMNT out of the Rossoneri squad going forward.
If the American star decides to move on from Milan then multiple MLS sides will be monitoring his situation, as Pulisic has expressed a desire to play in North America before bringing an end to his career.
Which MLS Teams Could Christian Pulisic Join?
Philadelphia Union
One of the biggest contenders in Major League Soccer to sign Christian Pulisic is Philadelphia Union, as the AC Milan star was born in Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia Union are currently one of the top teams in Major League Soccer, finishing top of the Eastern Conference and progressing to the MLS Playoff quarter finals with a 2-0 series victory over Chicago Fire.
Bradley Carnell’s side are one of the few teams in the MLS that do not have a major standout player from Europe and have managed to find success with a lot of homegrown talent.
Although this has been a successful format so far, Philadelphia have never lifted the MLS trophy and may consider a move for an elite level talent in Christian Pulisic.
One slight issue for Philadelphia is the salary demands of Pulisic, as the USMNT is reportedly earning around €98,000 per week – which is over three times more than PA’s highest paid player.
Inter Miami
Inter Miami may have one of the biggest selling points in Major League Soccer, as not only is the club owned by AC Milan icon, David Beckham, but Miami is also the home of Lionel Messi.
The Argentine has undoubtedly been the best player in North America this season, contributing 59 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions (40G + 19A).
Javier Mascherano’s side are currently tied at 1-1 in their opening MLS Playoff series and are searching for the MLS title for the first time in franchise history.
Miami would be able to deal with Pulisic’s salary demands, as Sergio Busquets is set to retire at the end of the season and would free up space for another designated player.
LA Galaxy
Not many people would have expected LA Galaxy to finish 14th in the Western Conference in 2025, after their historic MLS title victory in the previous season.
However, after a disappointing start to the season that saw the Galaxy remain winless from the opening 10 MLS fixtures, their chances of a playoff position came to an end.
Greg Vanney managed to keep his place as the head coach and could be forced into some major signings to help push his side back in to the top-half of the table next season.
LA Galaxy have brought in multiple names from Europe during their history, with the likes of David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robbie Keane all donning the white jersey – making Pulisic a feasible addition.
Columbus Crew
Moving on to a team that has enjoyed a lot of success in MLS over the last decade now and we have Columbus Crew, as the North American side have two of the last five MLS titles (2020 & 2023).
Overall, the Crew have won three MLS titles since the division began in 1998 and are currently tied in a 1-1 series with Cincinnati in the MLS Playoffs.
Wilfried Nancy’s side are managing to compete despite a lack of star talent and are renowned for introducing talent from their secondary team.
AC Milan have managed to find success without Christian Pulisic, beating Roma during matchday 10 in Serie A, which could allow teams like Chicago Fire to move in for the USMNT star.
Los Angeles FC
Finally we have Los Angeles FC, who recently progressed to MLS Playoff quarter finals with a 2-0 series victory over Austin FC and have been buoyed by the arrival of Son Heung-min.
The South Korean has been a major success since joining from Tottenham Hotspur for €22m in August 2025, contributing to 14 goals in 12 appearances (10G + 4A).
Seeing the quality that a player from Europe’s elite leagues can bring could push LAFC into making another major addition and Pulisic could be top of this list.
Living in Los Angeles could be a huge selling point for Pulisic and LAFC have found success with former AC Milan players in the past – most notably with Olivier Giroud.
