AC Milan Schedule Mike Maignan Contract Summit As Max Allegri Intervenes
Milan are running out of time to get Maignan to commit his future to the club.
AC Milan have scheduled a contract renewal summit with the representatives of Mike Maignan, according to reports.
Milan plan to offer Mike Maignan new contract worth €5.5m plus bonuses
Maignan’s contract expires at the end of the 2025/26 season, with Milan running out of time to secure his future.
Just a few weeks ago, reports suggested Maignan’s time at the San Siro was drawing to an end.
However, things have looked more positive in recent days, with Milan reportedly plotting a big offer for Maignan.
Now, Calciomercato have reported that the Rossoneri are planning a ‘major push’ to convince the Frenchman to stick with them.
In recent days, Igli Tare has reportedly increased the pressure on Maignan’s agent, receiving a small opening for dialogue.
As a result, Milan’s hierarchy and Maignan’s camp will meet for talks after the Serie A game against Cagliari on January 2, 2026.
The proposal is for three-and-a-half years, taking the deal to 30 June 2029, with an option for a further season to 2030.
The base salary is reported at €5.5m net per season, with bonuses that could lift the total to around €7m, added Calciomercato.
It is described as a contract structured along similar lines to Rafael Leao’s, reflecting Maignan’s leadership status in the squad.
Massimiliano Allegri’s role amid Juventus interest
Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has reportedly intervened personally, urging Maignan to recommit to the club’s project.
Allegri rarely gets directly involved in transfer business, and usually only for specific targets.
He did it for Adrien Rabiot last summer, and is now doing the same over Maignan’s renewal.
Allegri is also hoping to capitalise on Maignan’s strong relationship with Milan goalkeeping coach Claudio Filippi.
The Rossoneri manager’s high regard for Maignan appears to be feeding into the goalkeeper’s recent performances.
However, no final decision has been taken yet, and should Milan fail, the likes of Juventus are circling.
There is also interest from the English Premier League, with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea lurking.
Elia Caprile is on Milan’s radar and has been for some time, so he could be an alternative in case Maignan leaves.
For now, Maignan’s focus remains on the pitch, while his agents prepare to assess the written offer that is due in the coming days.
