AC Milan striker Niclas Fullkrug has reportedly suffered a toe injury which will keep him on the sidelines for weeks.

Fullkrug joined Milan on loan earlier this month and he has made three appearances to date for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

The Germany international struggled for fitness at West Ham, and now it looks as though his injury curse has struck again.

Niclas Fullkrug could miss a month for Milan with broken toe

Multiple Italian outlets including La Repubblica have claimed that Niclas Fullkrug suffered a broken toe during the draw with Fiorentina.

The January signing is expected be out for a month, pending further evaluation.

The news comes as a big blow to Allegri, whose front line is already in a difficult position.

Rafael Leao’s fitness isn’t perfect, with an adductor injury holding him back from his A-game.

Indeed, Allegri was reportedly planning to bench Leao for the upcoming Como game. However, he may need to rethink this.

Meanwhile, Santiago Gimenez suffered an ankle injury late last year, which could rule him out until spring.

On a brighter note, Christopher Nkunku appears to have turned a corner, and is now scoring regularly.

However, he has also been on the sidelines recently, missing two games earlier this month due to ankle issues.

How many Milan games Fullkrug could miss

Milan are in the midst of a very hectic calendar, with games coming thick and fast.

Based on the month-long absence prediction, Fullkrug could miss at least five games.

Milan are next up against Como, before then taking on Lecce, Roma, Bologna, and Como again.

Should Fullkrug recover and be match fit within a month, then he could potentially make the Pisa game on February 15.

Fullkrug’s first Milan start, against Fiorentina, saw him play well and earn praise from the Italian press.

However, it’s not as though the Rossoneri weren’t warned. Fullkrug’s injury record at West Ham was not great.

Milan will hope that a month out is the worst of it, and that Fullkrug can still play a meaningful part in the second half of the season.
