The veteran centre-back’s departure from Fluminense was confirmed this week, and he is now a free agent.
The Brazilian club announced the termination of his contract in an official statement, with Silva, 41, leaving six months early. Silva’s agent ruled out a January move, but that was before he decided to cut his deal short.
Now, multiple reports in Italy have claimed that Allegri wants to bring the legendary defender back to the San Siro.
However, according to journalist Daniele Longo, Milan’s board are not convinced. That is despite the manager asking for a new centre-back in January, believing Silva would be a perfect fit.
Adding to the speculation, MilanNews claimed that Silva’s name was ‘already echoing’ around the Al Awwal Stadium in Riyadh after I Rossoneri’s Italian Super Cup defeat at the hands of Napoli last night.
It is thought that Allegri would be in favour of handing the former PSG and Chelsea man a six-month contract, allowing him to play regular football ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Silva is set on a final swansong in Europe and intends to be closer to his family in England. This could see him target a Premier League club, while Porto are also said to be in the race.
Per ESPN Brasil, Allegri has opened the door for Silva, but now it falls to the hierarchy to make a decision.

Milan Move Makes Sense For Thiago Silva
Milan have looked rudderless at the back far too often this season, and need a leader like Silva.
He is no stranger to life at the San Siro, having made 119 appearances for the club between 2009-2012 and won the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana. Silva then moved on to PSG in a then-record deal for a defender.
Defying his advancing age, he later lifted the Champions League trophy during his four-year stint with Chelsea.
Silva would help to fix Milan’s defensive frailties and spur his team-mates on in the dressing room, as they look to stay in the Scudetto hunt. Currently, they are just one point adrift of fierce rivals Inter at the top.
Allegri recently addressed the transfer speculation but insisted he hadn’t called the player.
“I spent two wonderful years with Thiago, an extraordinary player,” he said.
“He continues to compete at a high level. The club handles the transfer market.”
