Adani: “Juventus Must Play a Different Style of Football to Win”

Former defender and current football pundit Daniele Adani has shared his thoughts on Juventus and their current struggles under Thiago Motta. Speaking on La Domenica Sportiva, Adani emphasized the need for Juventus to evolve their playing style if they want to achieve consistent success, regardless of who is managing the team.

On Juventus’ Current Form

Adani began by analysing Juventus’ recent performances, particularly highlighting the impact of Kolo Muani. “Kolo Muani has helped a team that was struggling to finish chances and had issues in the final third. With him, they’ve managed to resolve some situations, leading to two consecutive wins, even though the performances weren’t convincing,” he explained.

However, Adani pointed out that Juventus’ overall record this season leaves much to be desired. “Juventus has won only 10 out of 24 league matches, which is very few. On top of that, they haven’t always shown their best side. If you don’t play well, you won’t win consistently—that’s why they haven’t achieved more victories,” he said. Reflecting on specific games, he added, “Against Como and Empoli, they had a poor first half. If you play more games like that, you won’t win. This was true in past years and remains true this year.”

A Call for Change

Adani stressed that Juventus needs to rethink their approach to football if they want to return to winning ways. “Regardless of who is on the bench—whether it’s Conte, Allegri, Motta, Trapattoni, or Sarri (the last coach to win the Scudetto)—you need to propose a different style of football if you want to win,” he stated firmly. He dismissed the notion that this is merely about aesthetics: “It’s not about style; it’s about merit.”
