Inter Milan have all but confirmed the sale of teenage prospect Aleksandar Stankovic. However, there is an acknowledgment within the club that letting a player of his potential leave, must come with insurances for the future.

Is Aleksandar Stankovic Leaving Inter Milan?

The possibility of Aleksandar Stankovic’s exit has been ever-present throughout the summer window.

Inter fans hoping for a heartfelt link-up between new manager Cristian Chivu, and the son of one of his 2010 treble-winning teammates, look set to be disappointed.

Aleksandar, son of Dejan Stankovic, has been locked in negotiations with Club Brugge for much of the window, and it now appears the two clubs have reached an agreement.

Stankovic, who is still only 19, has climbed the ranks at Inter having represented the Nerazzurri for the entirety of his youth career. The Milan-born midfielder did fly the nest, however, after spending last season on loan at Swiss outfit Luzern.

The deal included an option to buy, as well as a buyback clause in favor of Inter. The Swiss Super League club, so impressed by Stankovic’s performances last term, exercised their option to buy, although Inter countered that with their own buyback clause.

Inter are under no illusions as to Stankovic’s potential, and his market value has risen considerably after impressing in Switzerland.

There does, however, appear to be no space for him in the Chivu’s plans, particularly with fellow defensive midfielder Petar Sucic arriving from Dinamo Zagreb this summer.

As negotiations with Club Brugge and Inter stalled earlier this month, Serie A betting sites had begun to err on the side of caution as to whether Stankovic would indeed head for the exit. However, reports now confirm that documents have been signed ahead of his move to Belgium, but not without the latter including a three-pronged insurance package.

Inter Include Buyback Option For Stankovic

Inter Milan have already shown their eagerness to keep Stankovic well within reach, even if he isn’t at the club.

Club Brugge will pay around $11 million for the teenager, as they look to reinforce the midfield amid AC Milan’s pursuit of Ardon Jashari.

The deal includes three separate insurances for Inter.

The first buyback option enables Inter to re-sign Stankovic next summer, for a fee of $27 million, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

If they pass up on the first option, they also have the chance to buy him back for an increased fee of $30m in 2027.

Inter will also receive a variable percentage of between 12 and 15 percent from any future transfer.
