Milan Plans To Open Discussions With Alexis Saelemaekers To Extend Belgian’s Contract

A new and improved Alexis Saelemaekers contract has been mooted after the Milan star’s impressive start to the 2025-26 season. 

Saelemaekers spent the last campaign on loan at Roma where he scored seven Serie A goals from 22 appearances. His form prompted an instant place in Max Allegri’s new-look side.

Although he isn’t off the mark yet in Italy’s elite soccer division, Saelemaekers has recorded a trio of assists for the Belgium national side over September’s international break.

With a new Christian Pulisic contract also being discussed, Milan is trying to tie down Alexis Saelemaekers on a long-term deal as well.

The latter’s current deal expires in 2027. However, Max Allegri and the Rossoneri hierarchy are keen to open discussions with Saelemaekers entourage.

It’s likely negotiations will begin in the coming weeks with the Diavolo preparing new and improved terms for the 26-year-old winger.

A move away from the San Siro had been mentioned in the summer. However, Allegri was adamant that he wanted to keep Saelemaekers when he replaced Sergio Conceicao in the dugout.

How Much Does Alexis Saelemaekers Earn?

According to Capology, Alexis Saelemaekers earns €24,615 per week at Milan. That makes the Belgian international one of the lowest paid stars at the San Siro.

It’s unknown at this stage how much Saelemaekers will be offered when discussions get underway. However, it’s likely that he will pocket at least double what he currently banks.

In fact, the winger could be paid on par with the likes of Koni De Winter and Mike Maignan. Much will depend on his form of course but the Rossoneri are keen to keep him at the club for the long-term.

What Clubs Were Interested In Alexis Saelemaekers This Summer?

Owing to his glowing performances on loan at Roma last year, Alexis Saelemaekers caught the eye of a number of clubs in the summer transfer window.

Juventus were heavily linked with Saelemaekers but the Bianconeri were unsuccessful in their attempts to lure the 26-year-old winger to Turin.

Further afield, English Premier League side Aston Villa also declared an interest. After the Villans let Leon Bailey move to Rome, Unai Emery’s side opted to sign Jadon Sancho on a loan deal from Manchester United.

Elsewhere, the likes of Bologna, Nottingham Forest, Frankfurt, Crystal Palace and Newcastle were also linked. Now, it’s down to Milan to tie the Belgian down on a new and improved deal.
