Alisha Lehmann has revealed the key reason behind her move to Como as fans claim the transfer came following the Swiss star’s split from Douglas Luiz.

Did Alisha Lehmann Join Como Because Of Douglas Luiz?

The Swiss international is one of the biggest names in women’s soccer, boasting the most Instagram followers out of any player with around 16.5 million.

However, it was her professional career that caught the headlines during this summer transfer windows, as the 26-year-old left Juventus to join another Serie A Femminile side in Como.

During her short stint in Turin, Lehmann made just four appearances across all competitions, but the Italian side went on to win the title and the Swiss star was criticised for being at the front of the celebrations.

Lehmann’s move to Juve came after her partner at the time, Douglas Luiz, joined the men’s team for around $50 million and the Brazilian also struggled to make an impact in Turin.

The midfielder made 27 appearances across all competitions, but only accumulated 877 minutes and is now set to leave the club after falling out of favor under Igor Tudor.

Juve are set for a huge revamp this summer and Douglas Luiz’s departure will help fund more arrivals this summer, with Juventus continuing their pursuit for Randal Kolo Muani.

However, Douglas Luiz’s time in Juve was also intensified as the Brazilian reportedly split from Lehmann in the opening stages of 2025 and fans speculated whether the Swiss star left Turin because of her relationship.

Lehmann put those rumors to bed in a recent interview with the Guardian, as the soccer star revealed that she joined Como because of the ever-evolving project.

The Swiss international said: “It’s an independent club, fully focused on women’s football – and that really matters to me. From the start, I could see this wasn’t just another team; it’s a project with real purpose and vision. So signing with FC Como Women just felt right.

“It sends the message that being strong, ambitious and expressive can all go hand in hand; that’s important for the future of the sport.

“I came here to play football and hope to earn my place by working hard. I came here to compete and to grow as an athlete. The rest will come if I stay true to that.

“For me, it’s simple: I want to play as much as possible, help the team, and enjoy football. What I love is that they Como take the game seriously, but also create space for players to be themselves.”

Who Has Invested In FC Como Women’s Team?

FC Como are one of the most unique teams in women’s soccer, as they are separate from the male team, who have spent over $120m on their lineup for 2025/26 and were purchased by an investment group called Mercury/13.

The company aimed to invest around $85m into the project and run the club on an independent basis, obtaining investment from multiple star names from the sport.

Former Manchester United and Chelsea player, Juan Mata, became a key investor in June 2025 and Italian soccer legend, Giorgio Chiellini has also made a six-figure investment.

Como’s women’s team finished in the lower-half of the Serie A Femminile, but are continuing to show signs of promise in the women’s game and Lehmann was extremely positive on the clubs’ future.

Lehmann said: “We’re in a moment where women’s football can define itself on its own terms, and independent clubs like Como Women have the opportunity in leading the movement. It isn’t just about winning matches. It’s about building something that lasts. This is the first time I’ve joined an independent club. That was a big part of my decision. It shows there is a different way of doing things.

“There’s so much potential here. Italy’s performance showed the quality and spirit in the game here, and now people are paying attention. I think the league is ready to take a big step forward.

“With more visibility, investment, and commitment to the players, Serie A Women can become a real force in Europe. Being part of that journey is something I’m really excited about.
