On the eve of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with AC Milan, goalkeeper Alisson Becker shared his thoughts in an interview with Sky Sport. The Brazilian, a former Serie A player, expressed his excitement about returning to Italy and the new Champions League format.

“Returning to Italy is always a pleasure. I love your country,” Alisson began. Regarding the new Champions League structure, he said, “The impression is that it will be a great spectacle for the people, for the fans, but also for us. We like to play matches of this level against big teams. We’re very happy to be back in the Champions League; being away for a year was tough. However, I believe we should think first and foremost about the health of the players.”

Reflecting on Liverpool’s start to the season, Alisson stated, “We have high expectations. We did a great job in the first month, starting well. Then, after returning from international duty, we didn’t perform well against Nottingham. But tomorrow we’ll have the chance to change things.”

The goalkeeper also shared his impressions of new arrival Federico Chiesa: “Chiesa immediately demonstrated his quality, but what struck me was the smile on his face. He arrived with the desire to do many things for the team and gratitude for playing with Liverpool. It’s as if life had given him another opportunity, a magnificent opportunity to do what he loves in a club like this.”

Lastly, Alisson commented on their upcoming opponents, particularly Rafael Leão: “We’ve studied him as we always do, with great professionalism. Milan has a very strong team with great players and significant offensive potential. We need to be ready to defend to the best of our abilities. Leão may not be in great form, but we know things can change in a single match. My defenders and I must be ready for a good performance, so the situation doesn’t change against us.”
