The striker limped off against Inter Milan before undergoing tests.

The extent of Alvaro Morata’s injury setback has now been confirmed, with the striker to miss several Como matches.

Alvaro Morata Recovery Timeframe Revealed

Morata was forced off in the first half of Como’s heavy defeat against Inter Milan on December 6. Worryingly, he felt discomfort in his upper thigh after moving down the right-hand side and was unable to continue.

The setback threatens to curtail a poor first campaign at the club, having failed to score a single goal since his return to Italy.

The 33-year-old underwent tests which confirmed he had sustained a serious tear to the adductor longus muscle in his left thigh.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, he is expected to be ruled out for at least a month and a half, but a definitive timeframe will only be issued after further scans.

Morata will now continue physiotherapy as he targets an earlier-than-expected return in 2026.

An official statement from Como read: “Como 1907 announces that the player Alvaro Morata, following clinical and instrumental tests following the injury sustained during the last league match, has suffered a high-grade tear to the adductor longus muscle of his left thigh.

“The player has already begun physiotherapy treatment as per the club’s rehabilitation protocol.”

Should Morata miss around six weeks, he would be sidelined for around nine matches in total.

Matches Alvaro Morata Could Miss

Como will fly out on Monday to face Roma in their next Serie A fixture.

They will then take on Lecce, Udinese, Pisa, Bologna, AC Milan, Lazio and Torino in the top-flight, with the experienced frontman likely to be absent.

An away trip to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia on January 27 may be the final match before Morata’s comeback. That could potentially put him in contention to feature against Atalanta on February 1.

Cesc Fabregas Pleased With Striker

Morata will hope for some much-needed longevity at Como, having bounced around several clubs in recent years.

After a stint at Chelsea, the ace played for Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Milan and Galatasaray, before finally settling on Como. Morata hit out at Galatasaray before leaving, believing they didn’t “honour their commitments.”

While he has yet to get off the mark for his new club, head coach Cesc Fabregas is not unduly worried.

Speaking after Como’s 2-0 win over Juventus in October, Fabregas said: “Morata did exactly what I asked for. A striker is judged by their goals, but I don’t. He has to score goals for himself, but not for me.

“He has shown why we brought him to Como.”
