Ange Postecoglou is looking for a new job after parting ways with Tottenham and the Australian is reportedly intrigued by Serie A.

Why Did Tottenham Sack Ange Postecoglou?

The Australian coach left his post as Tottenham manager in June 2025, despite ending the clubs 15-year wait for silverware – beating Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Ending this lengthy trophy drought came with its own issues, as Spurs endured their worst season in Premier League history, accumulating 38 points and finishing one place above the relegation zone.

Such a disappointing league campaign was enough for Tottenham’s board to cut ties with Postecoglou and the Lilywhites brought in Thomas Frank from Brentford to take the reins this year.

Manager dismissals have continued going into the 2025/26 season, with Jose Mourinho and Erik ten Hag both receiving their marching orders following poor starts.

The Dutchman was made surplus to requirements after two matches in Leverkusen and Ten Hag has reportedly been linked with a move to Serie A.

Finding a new job in management can be extremely difficult and Postecoglou is said to be waiting for an elite side to make an offer, with the Australian rejecting the chance to replace Mourinho at Fenerbahce.

So far during his career, the 60-year-old has held the reins at Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory, Yokohama FM, Australian National Team, Celtic and Spurs – increasing in quality each time.

Earning a step-up from Spurs could be a difficult task following his poor league form last season, however, the Australian is reportedly intrigued on an elite move to Serie A,

Could Ange Postecoglou Manage In Serie A?

The Serie A saw a host of managerial changes during the summer break, with Cristian Chivu, Massimiliano Allegri, Gian Piero Gasperini and Ivan Juric all taking charge of new teams.

Such a huge overhaul of managers at the elite Italian sides would suggest that teams may be set for the 2025/26 season, however, as Erik ten Hag’s time with Leverkusen showed – some bad results can lead to swift departures.

Jose Mourinho has been linked with a return to Serie A and Postecoglou is now looking to add his name to the list, as he waits for an elite European side.

The Australian is said to be eyeing-up a return to the Premier League, but would be willing to consider other options if the right club appears at the appropriate time.

One interesting option could come in Bergamo, as Atalanta have made a poor start to the 2025/26 season so far, picking up just two-points from the opening two matches.

Postecoglou’s approach to the game is also similar to the style Atalanta adopted under Gian Piero Gasperini, implementing a relentless high-press and persistent push for attacking soccer.

Ivan Juric will be given time to make his mark at the club, however, if results fail to improve then La Dea may consider the idea of sacking the Croatian to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive.
