Napoli have learned the length of the ban for Antonio Conte after he was sent off during Sunday’s 2-2 draw away to Inter in Serie A.

Conte has landed a two-match touchline suspension and a €15,000 fine by the Serie A sports judge.

The punishment follows Conte’s outburst after Inter won a second-half penalty following a VAR review at San Siro.

Conte will now watch Napoli’s next two league matches from the stands, with Parma and Sassuolo both coming to the Stadio Maradona.

Antonio Conte ban: what was decided

The league confirmed the decision in an official statement, with the ban covering Napoli’s next two Serie A fixtures.

Sky Italia listed Antonio Conte among the coaches suspended this week, noting the two-game ban and the €15,000 fine.

Prior to the news, reports emerged claiming Italy’s referees wanted a particularly strong punishment for Conte.

The ruling means Napoli will be without their head coach on the touchline at a key stage of the season as the title race intensifies.

Napoli return to action tomorrow in a rescheduled Week 16 match against Parma.

They then face Sassuolo on Saturday, January 17, again at home, before Conte can return for the following round.

Napoli face Copenhagen in the Champions League next week before heading to Juventus on Sunday, January 25.

There was talk of a possible three-match ban for Conte, but this has not proven the case.

There were sendings-off for Fiorentina coach Paolo Vanoli and Cremonese counterpart Davide Nicola too. They both received a one-game ban.

Antonio Conte ban: what happened against Inter

Antonio Conte was sent off shortly after Inter’s penalty was awarded, with frustration boiling over on the Napoli bench.

The Napoli boss kicked a ball from the touchline as the decision was being processed, which contributed to the red card.

Before leaving, Conte he threw a bottle to the ground and shouted in the face of the fourth official.

Conte’s reaction was a major talking point, partly because the stakes were so high. Both sides are challenging for the Scudetto.

For Napoli, the immediate focus is on keeping calm and organised without their coach’s instructions over the next two games.

Conte’s assistants will handle matchday duties, but the boss can still work during training and prepare the plan throughout the week.

Conte’s intensity often lifts teams, yet this time it has brought a clear cost, and Napoli must cope until he returns.
