Martinez got himself on the scoresheet with a brilliant diving header as the 2022 World Cup winners breezed past Venezuela in Buenos Aires.
The 3-0 victory was celebrated in front of a sell-out crowd in the Argentine capital. A certain Lionel Messi helped himself to a brace in what could be his last competitive international outing on home soil.

Lautaro Martinez Scores Stunning Header Against Venezuela
Back in May, Argentine legend Javier Zanetti said Lautaro Martinez has what it takes to win Ballon d’Or. The Inter Milan forward has certainly made a strong start to the campaign for both club and country.
Martinez already has two goal contributions in Serie A this term. Now, he has his 33rd international goal for the 2022 World Cup winners.
After coming off the bench, Martinez scored a powerful diving header to put his country two goals up in an eventual 3-0 victory over Venezuela.
In doing so, Martinez now has more Argentina goals than Maradona. Regarded by many as the greatest player of all-time – alongside Lionel Messi – the hero of the 1986 World Cup would surely be proud of Martinez’s achievement.
