Arsenal have set their sights on Inter striker Pio Esposito after his impressive Champions League display in midweek.

The Gunners ran out 3-1 winners over the Nerazzurri, but one silver lining for the Serie A side was Esposito’s performance.

Inter raised their game when Esposito came on and they nearly scored a second with a slightly deflected cross that just missed the post.

The Nerazzurri have a rising star on their hands in Esposito – but now Arsenal are also aware of him.

Why Arsenal are now keen on Inter striker Pio Esposito

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport have reported that Arsenal have now placed Pio Esposito on their wish list.

Esposito has won Arsenal over with his intensity, physical size, and technical abilities, added the report.

He is viewed as a good fit for the Premier League, as he’s a classic No. 9 with height, physicality and, last but not least, a high ceiling.

And considering Esposito delivered on the highest level against England’s league leaders, it’s not surprising to see them taking a shine to him.

Arsenal fans also love Esposito, with FootItalia covering supporter reaction from during and after the game.

“Pio Esposito might be new era’s Olivier Giroud,” one fan wrote on X.

“Seems unstoppable once he puts his body over you, is so clever in his movements, and incredibly talented and resourceful for a #9 of his height and weight.”

What Inter plan to do about Pio Esposito as Arsenal circle

Understandably, Inter have no plans to let Pio Esposito go, and will not be listening to any offers for him.

Indeed, FootItalia recently relayed a report noting how contract talks between the two parties are ongoing.

Inter reportedly held initial discussions with agent Mario Giuffredi to try to secure Esposito’s signature by the spring.

In addition to a contract extension, Esposito is also in line to more than double his wages.

His salary, currently just over €1m, would more than double to €2.5m per season, potentially reaching €3m thanks to bonuses.

This move by Inter was made inevitable, according to Tuttosport, by pressure from major European clubs.

Arsenal are now among them, and the Nerazzurri will need to work hard to ward off interest from the other elite.
