Atalanta Defender Ben Godfrey Arrives In Denmark For Brondby Medical
Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey is set to play under Steve Cooper at Brondby.

Ben Godfrey is close to a surprise move to Denmark after travelling for a medical ahead of a loan switch to Brondby.
Godfrey returned to Atalanta earlier this month after his season-long spell with English side Sheffield United was cut short.
The English defender made just four appearances for the Blades after joining the Championship side in the summer.
Now, it looks like Godfrey will be on the move once again.

Sky Sports journalist Pete O’Rourke has taken to X to report that Ben Godfrey has arrived in Denmark to undergo his medical at Brondby.
Should everything go according to plan, the Atalanta defender will join the Danish club on loan until the end of the season.

Godfrey swapped Everton for Atalanta in a €12.5m deal in July 2024, but his time in Italy has not gone to plan.
He has made just five appearances for La Dea, with his first loan move away coming just months later.
Godfrey joined Ipswich Town on loan in January 2025, after which he linked up with Sheffield United at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Just four appearances later, the Blades have pulled the plug at the first available opportunity.
The last of those outings came in a 1-0 home defeat to Charlton. This was in Chris Wilder’s first match back at the club in September.
Why Ben Godfrey is swapping Atalanta for Brondby
Denmark is not a conventional destination for a player who has spent most of his career in the Premier League.
However, Brondby’s manager will know Godfrey well. The two have both been fixtures in England’s top two divisions for a long time.
Brøndby head coach Steve Cooper made Godfrey a top target following his loan at Sheffield United being cut short.

Brondby’s head coach, Steve Cooper, has previously managed the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leicester City in England.
With Godfrey’s contract running until 2028, Atalanta will hope the player does well enough at Brondby for them to want to buy him.
Otherwise, Atalanta risk being stuck with Godfrey, a player surplus to requirements, for two more years.
Elsewhere in La Dea news, Atalanta want Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a potential replacement for midfielder Ederson.
