Edon Zhegrova has attracted plenty of interest from Serie A after confirming his wish to leave Lille this summer, and the latest Atalanta transfer news places them alongside Napoli in the race for his signature.
Is Edon Zhegrova Leaving Lille?
After enduring perhaps the toughest season of his career so far, Edon Zhegrova has confirmed he will be departing Lille after three years.
By all accounts, the Kosovar star will not renew his contract with Les Douges, which is set to expire next summer regardless.
The 26-year-old has been plagued with a persistent adductor injury, which saw him make just 12 appearances for Lille in Ligue 1 last season. In what could be a sad ending to an otherwise solid career in Hauts-de-France, Zhegrova last featured in the league all the way back on December 14.
With Zhegrova unable to provide guarantees over his fitness, Lille willing to offload him given his contract is up next year, along with attention he has attracted from around Europe, he appears primed for a move elsewhere.

Atalanta Transfer News Sees Zhegrova Linked
Valued at $30 million despite a worrying injury record, Zhegrova still holds plenty of pull given he has been a key player in the past for Lille, as well as Swiss club Basel.
Clubs in Italy have, more than most, shown a willingness to place faith in problem players when others haven’t, and Atalanta are the latest club to throw their hat in the ring for his services.
New manager Ivan Juric has already began moulding the squad in his vision for the future, bringing in Odilon Kossounou, Lazar Samardzic and Marco Brescianni.
However, with several attacking players continuously linked with moves away from La Dea — not least Napoli-linked Ademola Lookman — the club are working behind the scenes to bring in fresh options to spearhead the side.
Zhegrova certainly fits Atalanta’s careful transfer criteria of cut-price gems who remain effective, all with a view to fitting into one of Europe’s most potent attacks. It is likely Lille can be persuaded into a quick-fire sale for relatively cheap.
Atalanta are not the only ones interested in picking him up this summer, with Napoli’s post-Scudetto spree showing little signs of letting up. Zhegrova has been appreciated in Naples long before this summer, and a market opportunity to pick him up for a lower fee may be too tantalising to pass up.
Lille will be eager to recoup at least some of the $5.8m fee they paid for Norwegian winger Marius Broholm, whose arrival is also another strong indicator of their intention to sell Zhegrova.
Atalanta, according to offshore sportsbooks, remain well in contention for next season’s title despite Gian Piero Gasperini’s exit after nine years in charge.
