Atalanta’s Percassi: “Every match is Important. Zaniolo? We must be patient”

In the lead-up to Atalanta’s Champions League clash against Celtic, the club’s CEO Luca Percassi shared his thoughts with Sky Sport. Percassi emphasized the significance of each match in the competition, stating, “All games are extremely important. The points at stake have great value, and we know how difficult this competition is. It must be approached with the Atalanta spirit.”

Addressing the recent acquisition of Retegui, Percassi explained, “He was our first choice, but we didn’t expect to lose an important striker like Scamacca. We intervened and are happy to have managed to acquire a player from the national team.”

Percassi also reflected on the club’s consistent performance, saying, “Continuity is always something complex to guarantee in sports. For our reality, it’s something unique and extraordinary. We are very happy. Atalanta’s story is very beautiful to tell, being in the Champions League is something very significant. There’s awareness that what we’re experiencing is deserved, but it’s difficult.”

When asked about Zaniolo, Percassi urged patience: “The coach has many players at his disposal, and it’s not easy to have a lot of playing time from the start when you have so many quality teammates. Nicolò is doing well and will demonstrate his value. We are confident he’s on the right path. We must be patient with him.”
