Bologna coach Italiano calls for Improvement ahead of Como match

Bologna head coach Vincenzo Italiano addressed the media ahead of his team’s upcoming match against Como, emphasizing the need for improvement after a slow start to the season. With just 2 points from their first three matches, Bologna are still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Italiano began by discussing the challenges of the international break: “Unfortunately, we’ve only been able to work partially with those who stayed behind. We’re one of the few teams with so many international players. We’ve only had the full squad for a few days. We’ve been working on the growth we’re trying to achieve and on what we need to improve. All teams have something to improve on, especially us. We need to accelerate. If we evaluate these three matches, we could have done much more.”

The coach then provided an update on player fitness: “Today was the first training session for Holm and Lucumi, and the second for Ndoye. It’s important to have them back considering the period ahead of us. A tough schedule is starting, with fatigue, recovery, and travel. We have a good number of players, and if we can keep everyone involved, the more we are, the better to face each match.”

Italiano also commented on new signings Dominguez and Karlsson: “They are important players and part of Bologna’s group of wingers. Dominguez is in excellent condition. He’s coming to a different style of football, a different language, he needs to learn everything, but I’ve been amazed by his individual qualities.”

The coach emphasized the importance of unity: “All together. One for all, all for one, at the stadium and with the fans. I’m convinced we can continue to amaze with many emotions like last year. It will take time, which is always short in football, but we’re trying to achieve it.”

Regarding the upcoming match against Como, Italiano stressed focus: “Double commitment? We’re only thinking about the match against Como. I read a piece about Arteta renewing for another three years, which in another country probably wouldn’t have happened – I won’t say which country. Every place has its customs. Tomorrow Bologna is forced to do its best because the standings require it, because a good result can help us face the next match. We must reproduce what we’ve practiced this week.”
