Brazil are expected to name a new national team head coach by next week, with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti remaining the frontrunner.

The pressure is mounting as the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) looks to finalise their appointment ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Rodrigo Caetano Confirms Final Decision Timeline

Rodrigo Caetano, coordinator of the Brazilian national teams, told Sport TV that internal meetings are ongoing and that a decision is imminent. Despite refusing to name names, his comments strongly suggest that Ancelotti is still very much in the running.

“These are confidential negotiations,” Caetano said. “We know the responsibility involved. We intend to finalise it by next week at the latest.”

Carlo Ancelotti Remains Leading Candidate

While under contract at Real Madrid until 2026, Ancelotti has reportedly reached a mutual understanding with the club to depart at the end of the current season.

The Italian, who is one of the most decorated coaches in football history, has not confirmed his next move but previously stated that he would only reveal his future after the season has finished.

Having won 15 trophies at Real Madrid, Ancelotti is seen as an ideal candidate to lead Brazil’s new era following underwhelming performances in recent tournaments.

Brazil Without a Permanent Coach Since March

Brazil have been without a full-time manager since Dorival Junior’s dismissal following a loss to Argentina in March. Since then, the CBF has reportedly been in talks with several candidates, but Ancelotti has remained at the top of the wishlist.

CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues and Caetano are said to be personally involved in the final stages of the selection process.

Why Brazil Want Ancelotti

The CBF admires Ancelotti’s proven record, tactical discipline, and calm leadership—traits viewed as critical to restoring Brazil’s reputation on the global stage.

After falling short in recent World Cups and Copa América tournaments, the federation is betting on experience and international success to guide the team forward.

When Will Ancelotti’s Brazil Appointment Be Confirmed?

While no official confirmation has been made, all signs point to an announcement soon—possibly within days. With Brazil eager to begin preparations for the 2026 World Cup, the urgency to secure Ancelotti or another high-profile manager is growing.
