Inter Milan winger Tajon Buchanan is making a faster-than-expected recovery from the tibia fracture he suffered while training with the Canadian national team during the Copa America in early July.
Initially, the recovery time was estimated at 4-5 months. However, Calciomercato report that recent developments suggest a much earlier return. In the pre-season press conference, manager Simone Inzaghi had stated he expected Buchanan to be back by Christmas. Surprisingly, Buchanan is already doing individual training at Appiano Gentile, with a return to group sessions expected in early October, just a month away.
Buchanan, who joined Inter last January for €7 million from Belgian club Bruges, is under contract until June 2028, earning €1.5 million net per year. So far, the 1999-born player has scored one goal (in a 5-0 win against Frosinone on May 10) in 10 appearances for Inter, all as a substitute.
Inzaghi is known for his cautious approach with young foreign players. For instance, Bisseck’s first Serie A start came against Udinese at San Siro on December 9, after four months of training with the team.
Argentine defender Tomas Palacios, acquired on the last day of the summer transfer window, will need to work patiently to integrate into the Italian champions’ squad. Notably, he has been excluded from the UEFA Champions League list in favor of Buchanan.
