Carlo Ancelotti has been appointed the new head coach of Brazil’s national team, but will not take over for another year. The Italian coach is currently in charge of Real Madrid and is expected to finish his contract with Los Blancos before taking over the reigns with Seleção Brasileira.

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Tuesday night that Ancelotti will be the national team’s new coach and will take over in June 2024 in time for the Copa America.

It will be the first time that Ancelotti, 64, will be in charge of a national team in his coaching career, replacing Tite, who left the position after a quarter-finals defeat to Croatia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Fluminense head coach Diniz is expected to take over as interim coach of the senior squad until Ancelotti begins his term next year.
