As the first round of Serie A 2024/25 concludes, former Italian footballer Antonio Cassano has shared his insights on the opening matches, particularly focusing on Napoli’s performance. Speaking on the show “Viva El Futbol” with Daniele Adani and Nicola Ventola, Cassano didn’t hold back in his assessment.
“I have no doubts about the fact that Conte can reach the Champions League with Napoli. The disaster was made however last year by De Laurentiis and he is continuing to do it because when he said that he would renew Osimhen to then sell him it was a spectacular own goal. The teams that want him decide how much to spend and not you, otherwise you keep him.
“The match in Verona was one of the ugliest of Napoli in recent years, I would have never thought of such a disaster. Also Conte in press conferences must start to cry less and must do something more, but the fault is not his but of De Laurentiis. Osimhen? Watch out that if he stays he becomes a potato not hot, but explosive”.
During the show Cassano also drew up his personal rankings of Serie A: “The first four teams of the 2024-2025 championship will be Inter, Roma, Atalanta and Napoli, with Milan and Juve out of the Champions League zone.”
