Celtic manager Rodgers on O’Riley: “No team has come close to his valuation”

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers , has made it clear that no club has come close to meeting the valuation for their highly sought-after midfielder, Matt O’Riley. Despite interest from several clubs, including Atalanta, who have had their third offer of €17 million rejected, Rodgers has emphasized that O’Riley will not be leaving the club cheaply.

In an interview with Sky Sports UK, Rodgers praised O’Riley’s professionalism, stating, “With Matt, it has been very straightforward because he is a great professional.”

Rodgers further elaborated on the challenges clubs face when negotiating with a team like Celtic, saying, “The challenge for teams coming to a club like Celtic is that sometimes they can value the league and not the player. Obviously, there are riches in other leagues much bigger than ours that allow players to improve their conditions for life, we all understand that. For me, the important thing is that if a player leaves, you pay the value of the player, and that is not something that always happens. No player will leave here unless it’s for the right valuation, and at this moment, no team has come anywhere near that.”
