Chelsea have made contact with Juventus regarding defender Matthijs De Ligt and are prepared to include Timo Werner in any potential deal. The Blues are keen to sign a new centre-back following the departures Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger this summer, and De Ligt is considered to be top of their list.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chelsea have made contact with Juve and made a first offer of €25-30million plus striker Timo Werner as part of the exchange.
Di Marzio reports that Werner is aware of the offer and has given his consent to the potential move.
The initial offer is deemed too low by Juventus, and while the Blues are expected to make a new offer at around €40-45million + Werner, the Bianconeri want more.
Their first option is for Chelsea to pay the €120m release clause for De Ligt and while the player is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, the proposal so far is seen as too little for the Serie A side.
Another issue is expected to be Werner’s wages as he currently earns around €10-11m net per season. Talks continue, as Werner would also like the move, but knows he will need to decrease his wages.
