Andrea Colpani has been officially introduced as a new player for Fiorentina in a press conference held on Friday. The former Monza midfielder expressed his excitement and ambitions for his new chapter with the Serie A club.
Colpani shared insights into the transfer process, stating, “The negotiation started with Mister Palladino calling me, saying he wanted to bring me to Florence. I immediately told him I would come without even thinking about it; for me, it is a matter of pride.”
Discussing his expectations for the upcoming season, Colpani emphasized, “As the director said, the team expects a lot from me. I definitely want to improve on last year’s numbers to help the team achieve its goals. For me, it is the year of consecration; I want to become an important player for Fiorentina.”
Regarding his playing position, Colpani explained, “As I said, I can play both as an attacking midfielder and on the wing. I will always give my best for the team; the coach decides.”
Colpani also reflected on his development as a player, noting, “In Atalanta’s youth teams, I was one of the most fragile, and we preferred to field more physically ready players. I never gave up; the technical qualities were there. By playing more and gaining experience, I grew and fortunately arrived here. For me, it is a starting point, and I can improve a lot.”
Finally, addressing the fact that he was one of the most substituted players by Palladino last season, Colpani humorously remarked, “The coach and I joke about this sometimes, he always took me off in the 65th minute. I’ve always had this flaw; after an hour of play, my performance always drops. The coach rightly chose to substitute me. I want to improve in this aspect to maintain a high performance throughout the match. The coach asks us to score and make a significant impact in the goal area. Last year, I often managed to do so, and this year I want to improve even more.”
