David Beckham Knighthood
The David Beckham knighthood comes 22 years after he was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
Beckham’s name will appear on the list of recipients that will be published over the coming days. The knighthood comes 11 years after he was almost made a Sir by Queen Elizabeth II.
However, due to a tax avoidance issue he was denied his honors but he has since been cleared of any wrongdoing. The news will come a huge relief to Beckham after his previous near-misses.
The basis of the knighthood is due to his outstanding contributions to soccer as well as his contributions to British Society. Beckham is also involved in various charitable work and has been a Unicef member since 2005.
Furthermore, Beckham played a leading role in bringing the 2012 Olympic Games to London. Beckham and his family are close friends of King Charles as well as Prince William.
David Beckham’s Milan Stats
In May, Kyle Walker sent David Beckham birthday wishes as the former Milan star turned 50. Walker has just completed a loan spell at the San Siro, something of which Beckham himself did in 2009 and 2010.
Beckham’s Milan stats were reasonably impressive as he was in his twilight years. Across the two spells with the Rossoneri, the English soccer legend recorded nine assists and scored twice in 33 outings.
He actually played twice against former club Man United in the UCL last 16. However, Milan was beaten on both occasions and lost 7-2 on aggregate.
Beckham’s two Serie A goals came in consecutive fixtures in January 2009. He netted in the 4-1 win over Bologna and scored in the 1-1 draw with Genoa.
How Many Trophies Did David Beckham Win?
David Beckham lifted 23 major trophies during his club career. Interestingly, he is the only British soccer player to win a league title in four different countries. Doing so in England, Spain, France and the USA.
Milan was the only club side Beckham featured where he did not earn any silverware. His most successful stint came at boyhood club Man United and he also won the MLS Cup (2) whilst at LA Galaxy.
Nowadays, Beckham is the president and co-owner of Inter Miami. Since the club’s founding in 2017, the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have featured for the Herons.
Beckham’s impending knighthood further highlights his continued commitment to soccer. The England legend will likely be involved in the game for the rest of his life and his influence and power is second to none.
