Davide Frattesi Sends CBS Studio Into Fits Of Laughter After Honest Assessment Of Winning UCL Goal

Start

Davide Frattesi sent the CBS studio into fits of laughter after his brutally honest assessment of his winning goal against Barcelona.

Inter progressed to the Champions League final in remarkable fashion at the San Siro on Tuesday. The 7-6 aggregate win meant the Nerazzurri progressed to the finale and will play either Arsenal or PSG on May 7.

Simone Inzaghi’s side won a thrilling encounter 4-3 on the night. Many are already considering it the greatest two-legged semi-final Europe’s elite club competition has ever seen.

The first goal arrived after 21 minutes when Lautaro Martinez tapped home after Denzel Dumfries squared the ball to the Argentine star.

Hakan Calhanoglu scored from the penalty spot on the brink of half-time to double Inter’s advantage and seemingly gifting the Italians the win.

However, soccer fans across the world were certainly not prepared or expecting what was to ensue. Hansi Flick’s side came out after the break and scored twice in a six minute spell to level the tie once again.

Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo got on the scoresheet which turned the tide in favor of the LaLiga giants. Global superstar Lamine Yamal struck the post before Ballon d’Or contender Raphinha appeared to score a late winner on 87 minutes.

Deep into second-half injury time, 37-year-old Francesco Acerbi swept home to send the San Siro faithful into raptures. Extra-time was then determined to separate the two sides.

With 99 minutes on the clock, Davide Frattesi wrote himself into Nerazzurri folklore when he curled home from inside of the box. The astonishing victory means Inter will play in the Champions League final for the second time in three years.

Davide Frattesi Leaves The CBS Studio In Fits Of Laughter

Davide Frattesi has scored twice in the Champions League in 2024-25 and both goals have had a hugely positive bearing on Inter’s quest to win the competition.

His first came against Bayern Munich during the first leg of the quarter-final at the Allianz Arena. The Azzurri international swept home the winner with just two minutes remaining to help secure a 2-1 win.

Frattesi’s sublime curling effort against Barcelona is by far the biggest goal of the 25-year-old’s career so far. Naturally, the Nerazzurri man couldn’t help but display his honesty whilst describing the effort to CBS pundit Thierry Henry after the epic encounter.

I didn’t see a man that was nervous, or that his heart was beating really fast,” Henry said to Frattesi.

I saw a guy that was composed to be able to finish at that time, in that tie in that game. I mean, explain to us how did you think about doing that?”

Frattesi pondered for a few moments and looked at the ground before delivering his hilarious and surprising response.

Thank you. I don’t know maybe because I was thinking that if I don’t score I’m f****d!

Henry and former England internationals Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher all burst out laughing. Even host Kate Abdo couldn’t resist joining in.

Despite the pre-watershed moment, it’s hard to disagree with Fratessi’s true feelings on live TV. Just imagine if he scores the winner in the final later this month!

Meanwhile, today’s papers in Italy (May 7) were dominated but Inter’s herculean performance. Now, Simone Inzaghi’s side can look forward to the final on May 31. They’ll face the winner of PSG vs Arsenal at the Allianz Arena.

That tie is currently 1-0 in favor of the Parisians.
