Inter Consider Move For Bayern Defender Dayot Upamecano

According to the latest Dayot Upamecano transfer news, Inter are keeping tabs on the Bayern center-back. 

The Serie A giants are monitoring Upamecano’s contract talks. The 26-year-old’s current deal expires in June and if an agreement can’t be reached, he could leave on a free transfer.

However, a number of top European soccer clubs are also keeping tabs on the situation. Upamecano is widely regarded as one of the finest defenders on the continent and head coach Cristian Chivu is hoping to convince him to move to Italy.

Understandably, Cristian Chivu’s side isn’t the only club keeping tabs on Upamecano. English Premier League champions Liverpool are also monitoring Upamecano.

So are Real Madrid. Both European heavyweights are keen to strengthen their back-lines and view Upamecano as a suitable signing.

Although Inter have thrown their name into the mix, Bayern board member Max Eberl has confirmed talks have already begun about extending Dayot Upamecano’s deal.

“There are very open discussions, especially with Dayot Upamecano. It’s no big secret that we have a strong desire to extend Upamecano’s contract,” Eberl told Sky Germany.

It’s unclear at this stage whether the France international will stay in Munich. Upamecano has been a key member of the roster since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.

Having won three Bundesliga titles and a trio of German Super Cups, the 26-year-old may be tempted for a new venture. And that is where Cristian Chivu could weave his magic.

Naturally, competition for Upamecano is high. However, the Nerazzurri head coach would assure Upamecano his importance to the first team. Something of which the 26-year-old may not be assured of at Liverpool or Real.

Upamecano is cool, calm and composed on the ball and is renowned for his brilliant passing ability. The 26-year-old is strong in the tackle and can also hold his own against physically imposing opponents.

In a one-on-one race for the ball, Upamecano is rarely beaten and he has great positional awareness. He is also capable of anticipating where crosses and long balls will land.
