Olympique Marseille’s coach Roberto De Zerbi addressed the media in a press conference ahead of the team’s away match against Saint-Etienne, which is part of the 14th round of Ligue 1. Currently, Marseille sits in second place in the league, trailing Paris Saint-Germain by seven points.
De Zerbi made it clear that he is focused on the upcoming match and does not want to hear about vacations until after their final commitment of 2024, which will be against Saint-Etienne in the Coupe de France. He stated emphatically, “After that match on December 22, everyone must return to the Commanderie. Until that date, I don’t want to see suitcases or backpacks because otherwise, I will burn them in the locker room.”
The Italian coach also discussed his tactical options, particularly regarding his players Merlin and Garcia. He noted, “Merlin is more technical and cleaner in play compared to Garcia, while Garcia provides something extra in terms of physicality. We can alternate them on the wing.”
