Napoli’s search for defensive reinforcement has taken a significant turn, with Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior emerging as the frontrunner for a January move. According to recent reports, the Italian club has intensified discussions with Arsenal regarding a potential transfer for the Polish defender.
The Corriere del Mezzogiorno reveal that Napoli is keen to bolster their central defensive options in the upcoming transfer window. New manager Antonio Conte has explicitly requested defensive reinforcements, and Kiwior appears to be at the top of their list.
Arsenal have shown openness to a potential deal, but only under specific conditions. The English club is currently willing to consider a loan move with an obligation to buy, though the financial terms of such an agreement are yet to be finalized. Despite this, negotiations between the two clubs are described as “intense,” suggesting a strong mutual interest in reaching a deal.
Kiwior’s versatility adds to his appeal for Napoli. Primarily a left-footed center-back, he can also be deployed as a left-back when needed, offering tactical flexibility to Conte’s squad.
Should Kiwior join Napoli, it could spell the end of Juan Jesus’s time at the club. The Brazilian defender might be moved on or relegated to a fringe role, similar to the situation Mario Rui faced earlier in the season.
