Dejan Stankovic is very close to being appointed as the new Sampdoria coach after meeting with the clubs directors earlier this week. The former Lazio and Inter legend had been coaching Serbian side Red Star Belgrade until the summer when he chose to resign after their loss to Maccabi Haifi in the Champions League preliminaries.
Samp parted ways with Marco Giampaolo on Sunday after a poor start to the season that’s seen them pick up just two draws since August.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Stankovic met with Sampdoria management earlier this week to discuss personal terms with an official announcement expected very soon.
Stankovic was previously assistant manager at Udinese, team co-ordinator at Inter, and a UEFA advisor before becoming taking up the coaching role at Red Star Belgrade.
