Former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero believes Paulo Dybala is playing his best at Roma because he feels the love of the fans. La Joya famously made the move to the Giallorossi as a free agent last summer after his Juventus contract wasn’t extended. The Argentine has gone on to become a key part of the Roma team as well as winning the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year. Speaking to Sky Sport, Del Piero was full of praise for Dybala and offered his thoughts on why he’s doing so well in the capital:
Dybala chose Roma over other teams, surely if you feel loved you are happy and he perceived this from the beginning: Rome welcomed him with a standing ovation precisely because he chose Rome.
Even at the World Cup we saw a team that won by playing in an ancient way, all at the disposal of the ‘number ten’. It is not a given that players want to do that, even if the number ten is called Lionel Messi.
In today’s football everyone has to run a lot, if he does it now it is because he has a mentality and spirit of sacrifice also given by his years at Juventus.
At Roma he found everything he needed, both he and Abraham understood that numbers do not always determine whether you have had a good season or not.”
