What Clubs Could Activate Denzel Dumfries €30m Release Clause?

Start

The Denzel Dumfries release clause is now active as Inter brace themselves for a flurry of inquiries from Europe’s top soccer clubs.

Dumfries was one of the standout performers for the Neruzzurri last season. The Dutch international played a key role under former head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Operating as a right wing-back, Dumfries scored 11 goals and provided six assists in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 defensive formation. Two of those strikes came in the Champions League semi-final first-leg classic against Barcelona.

Dumfries helped Inter progress to the UCL final as well as the Supercoppa Italiana final. He also starred as Inzaghi’s men were pipped to the Scudetto on MD38 by Napoli.

Now, new boss Cristian Chivu will be desperate to keep hold of the 29-year-old for the 2025-26 campaign. The 2010 treble winner views Dumfries as one of his best players and is keen for him to remain at the San Siro.

What Is Denzel Dumfries Release Clause?

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Denzel Dumfries release clause is €30million. However, it can only be activated up until the middle of July.

The fee is relatively modest for a player who is arguably the best right wing-back in the world currently. His swashbuckling performances for Inter have seen a number of clubs track the Dutch international.

Interestingly, fellow Serie A star Moise Keen also has a release clause that is also active until the middle of this month. The Fiorentina forward looks more likely than Dumfries to depart as he seeks Champions League soccer.

Is Denzel Dumfries Looking To Quit Inter?

In June, Denzel Dumfries declared that new Inter boss Cristian Chivu is ‘a truly excellent coach.’ His comments suggest he is happy to play for Chivu and isn’t actively seeking to quit the Nerazzurri.

However, Dumfries is reportedly unhappy with Lautaro Martinez’s recent comments. The club captain demanded that all unsettled players leave the San Siro which has caused a rift in the locker room.

El Toro’s words were primarily aimed at wantaway star Hakan Calhanoglu. Nonetheless, Dumfries and Marcus Thuram were upset with the club-captain’s lack of professionalism and an exit in the next few weeks can’t be ruled out.

Could Denzel Dumfries Sign For Man United?

With Denzel Dumfries available for €30m across the next fortnight, a plethora of Europe’s top soccer clubs will all be keen on Dumfries.

Man United are one of the most likely destinations for the 29-year-old. The Red Devils endured a miserable campaign under Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese head coach is keen to add reinforcements and views Dumfries as a standout performer who could help the Red Devils to better fortunes next season.

What Other Clubs Would Be Interested In Denzel Dumfries?

The likes of English Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool would likely bypass the opportunity to sign Denzel Dumfries.

All three sides have established right-backs with the latter signing Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.

Therefore, a small number of English teams as well as some continental bog boys are all expected to make their move in the coming days.

Tottenham are looking to improve their defence. So to are LaLiga high-flyers Atletico Madrid. Even Bayern and Dortmund can’t be dismissed as potential suitors.

Nor too can Saudi Pro League sides. Even the best cash out betting sites are trimming the odds on Dumfries to seek a new venture in West Asia.
