The latest Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer news has revealed that Roma have joined the race for the English striker.

Calvert-Lewin confirmed his departure from Everton over the weekend and officially became a free agent today (June 30).

Interest in Calvert-Lewin is expected to be plentiful as a number of top soccer clubs aim to enhance their attacking options for the 2025-26 campaign.

FootItalia was told that the 28-year-old is open to a Serie A switch. Calvert-Lewin has spent his entire pro career in England and would consider an approach from the Giallorossi.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are expected to satisfy FFP constraints that threatened to derail their summer transfer plans. Roma will have raised enough cash to start trading again with the departure of Tammy Abraham.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin Transfer News

After Roma forward Tammy Abraham agreed a four-year deal with Besiktas on Monday, the Italian giants want fellow countryman Dominic Calvert-Lewin to fill the void.

Unsurprisingly, the latest Calvert-Lewin transfer news has seen a number of English Premier League clubs also join the race for the free agent.

Newcastle, Man United, West Ham and Sunderland are all expected to declare their interest in the coming days. However, Roma hold the strongest intent.

New head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is keen to add some much-needed firepower to his ranks. The Italian boss is a keen admirer of Calvert-Lewin and wants him onboard for 2025-26.

Why Roma Want Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Not only do Roma view Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the perfect candidate to fill the void left by Tammy Abraham, the Giallorossi believe he’ll be essential in their quest for Serie A and European success.

Calvert-Lewin has endured some excellent seasons at Goodison Park. Still aged 28, new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini firmly believes Calvert-Lewin is still very much in his prime and has plenty to offer.

Not only that, a number of English players have enjoyed successful spells at the Stadio Olimpico. Abraham had a brilliant start to life in Rome before a serious ACL injury saw him fall down the pecking order.

Chris Smalling starred in the center of defence when he represented the club between 2019-2024. He won the Conference League in 2022 – alongside Abraham.

Calvert-Lewin certainly has the pedigree and his style of play very much suits Serie A. Although he has struggled with injuries in recent years, a new start and different surroundings at Roma will only help DCL hit the heights he knows he is capable of.

How Many Goals Has Dominic Calvert-Lewin Scored For Everton?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a total of 71 goals in 274 appearances across all competitions in his nine years at Everton. He also chipped in with 22 assists.

That tally means he is the Toffees third-highest scorer in the English Premier League era. His finest season came in 2020-21 whereby he scored 21 times in 39 outings. 16 of those strikes came in the top-flight.

In September 2020, he was named as the league’s Player of the Month and went on to win the Merseysider’s Player of the Year award.

The best betting apps in the US are already favoring Roma as Calvert-Lewin’s next club. The Giallorossi faithful will be hoping he can replicate his form from 2021 at the Stadio Olimpico.
