Inter Milan have successfully concluded negotiations with Denzel Dumfries, securing the Dutch wing-back’s services until 2028. This new long-term contract puts an end to months of speculation about Dumfries’ future at the club.
The 28-year-old Netherlands international, who joined Inter in 2021 as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi, has become a key player in Simone Inzaghi’s squad. His current contract was set to expire at the end of this season, which had led to interest from other clubs, including Manchester United.
According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Dumfries will see a significant increase in his salary, with the new deal worth around €4 million per season. Importantly, the contract does not include a release clause, demonstrating Inter’s commitment to retaining the player.
Since joining Inter, Dumfries has made 102 appearances in Serie A, contributing 11 goals and 17 assists. Across all competitions, he has featured in 137 matches for the Nerazzurri. This season, he has already made an impact, scoring a crucial equalizer against Monza.
The contract extension is part of Inter’s strategy to secure the futures of key players who have contributed to the club’s recent successes. However, the team will need to improve their performance in the league, having already dropped points against Monza and Genoa, and suffering a defeat in the Milan derby.
