Gianluigi Donnarumma says he and his teammates are angry about their 1-0 defeat to Spain, but their destiny is still in their own hands. The Azzurri struggled to get a foothold in the game and were dominated by a Spanish side that had most of the possession, ultimately losing to an unfortunate Riccardo Calafiori own-goal. Speaking with RAI, Donnarumma lamented the
“We made too many easy passing mistakes and showed little quality. When you make so many errors, they punish you. We’re angry, but we’ll use this frustration for the last game.”
Regarding how the team will move forward, Donnarumma stated, “Our destiny is still in our hands. We shouldn’t be too discouraged. We’ll have our work cut out against Croatia, but I’m convinced we can do it.”
When asked about any positives to take from the match, the goalkeeper responded, “I can salvage the team’s attitude. We ran a lot, perhaps not always effectively, but we’ll build on this attitude knowing that we need to do much better.”
