Newcastle Ready To Re-Enter Race For Wanataway Juventus Star On One Condition

Start

The latest Dusan Vlahovic transfer news has revealed that Newcastle are considering re-entering the race for the wantaway Juventus star.

Eddie Howe’s side has drawn up a list of potential suitors to replace Alexander Isak at St James’ Park. The Swede has told the Magpies he wants to leave the club this summer with Liverpool being his most likely destination.

Howe still has a slither of hope that Isak will stay with the Carabao Cup winners for at least another 12 months. However, the Geordie boss has identified a number of forwards who could fill the void should Isak move on.

The likes of Ollie Watkins, Nicolas Jackson, Yoane Wissa and Benjamin Sesko are the names most commonly touted. According to FootItalia sources, the Toon Army are also considering Vlahovic but only on one strict condition.

Dusan Vlahovic Transfer News

Milan has been the leading contender to sign Dusan Vlahovic this summer but the player still remains at Juventus. That in itself has given Newcastle and other suitors hope that they’d be able to manufacture a deal.

Vlahovic has been very much in demand during the off season. English Premier League giants Arsenal and Man United had shown interest as well as Spain’s Atletico and Barcelona.

Inter, Napoli and even Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have also been linked with the Serbian striker. Newcastle were also in the running but dropped their interest once they were assured that Alexander Isak would be staying.

However, Eddie Howe’s side are back in contention now that Isak has made it clear he does want to leave. Vlahovic is certainly a marquee signing and supporters would agree he would make a solid replacement for the Swede.

What Is Dusan Vlahovic’s Price Tag?

Once Juventus revealed Dusan Vlahovic’s price tag, it was clear that a frenzy would ensue for his signature. The Serie A giants are reportedly willing to let Vlahovic leave for €20-25million back in June. However, a fee of €30-35m is more likely.

The modest price is owing to the Serbian striker having less than 12 months to run on his current deal. Understandably, the Old Lady would rather cash in now than risk losing him for nothing next year.

From Newcastle’s perspective, the fee is not an issue and the fact Eddie Howe would make Vlahovic his main man would highlight the importance of the 25-year-old at St James’ Park.

Vlahovic certainly has all the skills, attributes and qualities to succeed in the North East. His Champions League experience is also hugely beneficial.

Dusan Vlahovic Salary

The main stumbling block from Newcastle’s point of view is the Dusan Vlahovic salary. He currently earns around €370k per week which is far beyond what Alexander Isak pockets on Tyneside.

Unsurprisingly, that figure makes Vlahovic the highest paid player in Serie A. It’s easy to see why Juventus have struggled to shift the Serbian star.

Although offshore sportsbooks still firmly see Vlahovic quitting the Allianz Stadium this window, it will boil down to how much he drops his wages by.

The Magpies won’t break the bank for Vlahovic. Especially as he was originally offered to the club which suggests he has been a problem in-house at Juventus.

Nonetheless, there’s no denying that Vlahovic has what it takes to potentially match Isak’s goal contributions at St James’ Park. If he agrees to the condition of slashing his earnings, the Toon Army will get right back in the mix for Vlahovic should Isak definitely leave in the coming weeks.
