With Roma potentially playing 169 matches across all competitions during this timeframe if they reach the finals of both the Coppa Italia and Europa League, Dybala has already featured in 101 games, comfortably surpassing the threshold for the automatic extension.
This new contract will see Dybala’s salary increase to €8 million per season, making him the third-highest paid player in Serie A. Only Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic (€10.5 million) and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez (€9 million) will earn more than the Roma star in the Italian top flight.
The automatic renewal provides Roma with a sense of security and removes any immediate pressure to negotiate a new deal. The club can now approach any future contract discussions, potentially extending Dybala’s stay until 2027 or 2028, without the urgency of an impending free agency.
