Roma Close To Terminating Evan Ferguson Loan Deal After Serie A Struggles
The Irishman has endured a difficult five months in Italy.

Roma are considering terminating their loan deal for Evan Ferguson if he fails to impress against Cagliari on December 7.
That is according to Friday’s (December 5) edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport. The outlet suggests that another underwhelming performance will see Ferguson return to England next month.
Gian Piero Gasperini isn’t convinced that the 21-year-old striker is likely to improve in the second-half of the campaign. Therefore, Ferguson is very much in the last chance saloon ahead of the Unipol Domus showdown.

After Evan Ferguson scored four goals in a pre-season rout of Serie D side UniPomezia in July, it appeared that the Irishman would flourish at the Stadio Olimpico.
Fast-forward five months and it’s been a tale of woe. In nine Serie A appearances, Ferguson has scored one goal and provided a single assist in nine outings. He has zero goal involvements in four Europa League appearances, too.
Such a poor return – coupled by lethargic displays when on the pitch – has meant that Gian Piero Gasperini is likely to let the Brighton man head back to the Amex unless he can sparkle in Sardinia.
Roma’s January Transfer Targets
Roma have targeted Giacomo Raspadori as a potential forward to come in and replace Evan Ferguson next month. The Italy international has struggled so far at Atletico Madrid.
Raspadori previously represented Napoli whereby he won two Serie A titles. From Gian Piero Gasperini’s perspective, his experience will prove vital.
Furthermore, Gasperini tried to sign Raspadori during his Atalanta days. Although it didn’t materialize, the wily old boss remains a keen admirer.
Elsewhere, Manchester United flop Joshua Zirkzee has been discussed. The Dutchman scored his first Premier League goal of the season on Sunday so it’s likely to be given another chance. Especially as Benjamin Sesko is injured.
Other offensive candidates include Tottenham attacker Mathys Tel, Corinthians star Yuri Alberto as well as Borussia Dortmund’s Fabio Silva.
