Facundo Gonzalez set for Feyenoord move

Feyenoord are  on the verge of securing the services of Juventus defender Facundo Gonzalez, with the young Uruguayan expected to undergo his medical examination today. This move marks a significant step in the Dutch club’s efforts to bolster their defensive options for the upcoming season.

Nicolo Schira reports how the deal structure between Juventus and Feyenoord has been carefully crafted to benefit both clubs. Initially, Gonzalez will join Feyenoord on a loan basis, with the Rotterdam-based club paying a €500,000 fee for the temporary transfer. However, the agreement includes an option to make the move permanent for a sum of €6 million.

Interestingly, this option to buy could transform into an obligation if certain conditions are met during Gonzalez’s stint at Feyenoord. This clause provides an added incentive for both the player and the club to ensure a successful spell in the Eredivisie.

Upon successful completion of his medical, Gonzalez is expected to sign a long-term contract with Feyenoord, keeping him at the club until 2029. This five-year deal (including the initial loan year) demonstrates Feyenoord’s faith in the young defender’s potential and their commitment to his development.

Juventus, while parting ways with a promising talent, has ensured they maintain a stake in Gonzalez’s future. The Turin giants have negotiated a 20% sell-on clause, meaning they will benefit from any future transfer involving the player.
