The Italy U-20 lineup is set to face multiple changes in their second World Cup clash against Cuba after the Azzurini’s underwhelming opener against Australia.

Carmine Nunziata kicked-off the U-2o World Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Australia, as Italy take up second in Group D – just behind Argentina on goal difference.

The Azzurini’s winning goal came after just 10-minutes, as Mattia Mosconi was tripped by the Australian goalkeeper and Mattia Mannini made no mistake from the spot.

Despite picking up a victory on the opening day, many supporters were left slightly underwhelmed by the Italian’s performance, as Australia missed multiple chances to earn a point.

Alvin Okoro failed to make an impact after being touted as a player to watch for Italy, as the 20-year-old failed to complete a successful dribble and had just 17 touches before being substituted after 54 minutes.

Both of the players that were involved with the goal will have cemented a place in the Italian side, with Mosconi being a constant threat down the left flank.

Nunziata will be forced into one change however, as Wisdom Amey was substituted in the 31st minute through injury and was replaced by Jacopo Sardo.

The Italian U-20 manager was quick to praise his side after a 1-0 victory over the AFC Asian Cup U-20 Champions, but claimed that there are still some things to fix ahead of the match against Cuba.

Nunziata said: “We faced a difficult opponent but it was important to win, because the first game of the group is always fundamental. We were good, because we also knew how to suffer, getting a well-deserved victory.

“We are a new team, gathered only five days ago, and so it is normal that there are still some things to fix. However, this success allows us to work with greater serenity.”

Italy will be big favorites going into their upcoming World Cup clash, as Cuba were beaten 3-1 by Argentina, despite having a man advantage after just 10-minutes.

Pedro Pereira’s side are competing at an U-20 World Cup for only the second time in history and the first time since 2013, meaning progression from the Group Stage would be a monumental achievement.

As previously mentioned, the Azzurini could face some tweaks to its lineup for the upcoming clash against Cuba, following some poor displays against Australia.

Wisdom Amey is expected to miss the clash through injury and Nunziata has a decision to make over who is the most suitable replacement in a back-three.
