The FIGC have moved quickly to deny reports that linked national team coach Roberto Mancini with the Napoli job. The Partenopei are without a manager after Luciano Spalletti took charge of his final match yesterday, beating Sampdoria 2-0, having already secured the Scudetto weeks ago. Recent reports have linked Napoli with Vincenzo Italiano, Luis Enrique and most recently, Azzurri coach Mancini.
The FIGC have now released a statement to Italian new agency ANSA, denying the reports and reiterating that Mancini still has two years left on his contract:
“The coach of the Italy team, Roberto Mancini, has not received any calls from Aurelio De Laurentiis or his emissaries to take the Napoli bench.”
“We have spoken to the coach about this and he has a contract with the Azzurri until 2026.”
