FIGC open Mourinho investigation

The FIGC Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that an investigation has been opened into the clash between Roma coach Jose Mourinho and fourth official Marco Serra. The two butted heads during Cremonese’s 2-1 win over the Giallorossi with the Portuguese coach eventually being sent off for his behaviour on the touchline.

Cameras captured the moment when the two confronted one another, with Mourinho seen to have reacted angrily to a comment made by the fourth official just after he was sent off. In his post match comments, Mourinho gave his account of the exchange, saying:

“I am emotional, but not crazy. In order to react the way I did, something had to happen first, I need to understand if I can take any legal action.

“Piccinini gave me a red card, because unfortunately the fourth official does not have the capacity to understand what he said to me. I want to find out if there is an audio recording.

“I don’t want to get into the fact that Serra is from Turin and on Sunday we are playing against Juventus. For the first time in my career, a fourth official spoke to me in the most incredible way. It was unjustifiable.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the FIGC Prosecutor’s Office are now planning to look at the incident in closer detail and will speak directly to both Mourinho and Serra to understand what occurred.

Reports circulating after the game claim that Mourinho asked Serra about an on-pitch clash between players Marash Kumbulla and Frank Tsadjout and was reportedly told to “mind your own f**king business.”

Following his expulsion from the game, Serra allegedly told Mourinho “they all take the p*ss out of you, go home.”
