Ex-Fiorentina head scout Antonio Tramontano has been tasked by new employers West Ham to identify talent in Italy, and the latest Fiorentina transfer news suggests he could help convince one of his former team’s players to follow him.

West Ham’s new-look recruitment team, headed up by Graham Potter’s long-term right-hand man Kyle Macaulay, now includes an intriguing appointment.
Former Fiorentina head scout Antonio Tramontano has this week joined the Hammers as an Italian market scout, with the club eager to tap into Serie A’s talent-rich pool.
Tramontano spent four years at La Viola, first as a match analyst before being promoted to assistant sporting director, and then finally to his most prominent role as head scout.
During his tenure as the club’s chief talent identifier, Fiorentina picked up the likes of Nico Gonzalez, Brazilian full-back Dodo and Argentine striker Lucas Beltran.

Fiorentina Transfer News
It is widely expected that Lucas Beltran, who was signed during Tramontano’s stint as head scout, will depart Fiorentina this summer.
The 24-year-old has been at the club since 2023 after penning a five-year contract in a deal worth $20 million from River Plate.
Although he has largely played second fiddle to Fiorentina’s chief source of goals, Moise Kean — who is linked with a move to Arsenal — he has still managed to rack up a commendable 25 goal involvements in 98 appearances.
However, he started 21 of 33 matches in Serie A, with Genoa loanee Albert Gudmundsson often partnering Kean in an attacking two. The latter has also just had his initial loan deal made permanent by Fiorentina, potentially signifying even less minutes available to Beltran.
It is no secret that West Ham are in the market for a striker, having scored the fifth-least amount of goals in the Premier League last season.
Of course, the market for forwards is alarmingly thin, and as such the premium on recognized goalscorers makes it a complicated endeavour.
However, the Hammers are confident that the appointment of Tramontano may aid them in their pursuit of a forward in Serie A, and FootItalia understands his relationship with Fiorentina could help them in negotiations with Beltran.
The Argentine native has previously been linked with a move back to River Plate this summer, whilst Roma also showed tentative interest at the start of the window.
With three years still remaining on his contract and plenty of potential still to be discovered at 24, Beltran would likely command a fee in excess of $25 million.
According to new betting sites, Fiorentina are expected to challenge once again for European spots in Italy, and letting go of Beltran may free up cash for further improvements.
